Emphathy

I think writers make people feel empathy by doing certain things when they are writing. Listen to this passage does it make you feel empathy?

"The man put his hand on her shoulder" You seem like a fine boy. I am sorry that I am not your father."

The author writes about something that she knows happens to lots of people. I know that I have walked up to a person before a race and handed my hat to some random guy. It was very embarrassing. It works don't you think if you write about something that is really happening in the world, like living in Afghanistan. I think it is a very good method that she has found because if you relate it to something that kids know about they will understand it. That is how I hink writers make people feel empathy.

Breadwinner

I am imagining that I am in Afghanistan and I have to wear a Burqa. I think it would be terrible it would be hard to walk down the streets. Especially in Afghanistan where the streets are uneven. I don' think it is fair to make women in Afghanistan wear burqa's. If I lived in Afghanistan I would definitely not accept it and move on. I WOULD FIGHT FOR MY RIGHTS!!!

I don't think it is fair for women of Afghanistan. Afghanistan is a nice country and it should not be corrupt from war. Wearing a burqa would make me angry and it would change my lifestyle alot. I wouldn't be able to play sports or have much fun for that matter. I would probably spend most of my time inside so I wouldn't have to wear a Burqa. That is what I think about Afghan women having to wear a Burqa.

Holocaust Survivor

On Monday I listened to Holocaust survivor Eva Olson. She talked about the unthinkable. I think the thing that impacted me the most was how she was tricked into going to Germany to what was almost certain fate. She talked about how little they fed you and how the living conditions were disgusting. She was extremely lucky and strong to be able to survive the Holocaust. That is what she talked about that struck me the most.

Of all the things that she shared with us I think the most important lesson was not to use the word hate lightly. She told us that hate was what killed 11 million people. Hitler supposedly killed the Jews but of the 11 million who died 5 million were not Jewish. She told us that she had taught her grandchildren never to use the word HATE and I for one will try and do what she asked and stop using the word hate.

The one thing that she said that I think will stick with me for years to come is when she said she was in the concentration camp she said she thought about who could do such a thing. She thought to herself animals? Then she ruled that out and said animals would never do such a thing to there own kind. It was humans and that was the sad part humans were killing there own time and throwing them into mass graves like throwing Kleenex in the garbage. The thing is they were people not kleenex's!!! That is what I thought about Eva Olson.

Teambuilding day at Norval

Yesterday our school had a team building day at norval, one thing I think our team did well was to communicate well with each other. On our first activity we made sure that everyone ideas were tried. We decided who would be the best for the job. We all helped and congratulated each other when we succeeded. That was one thing I thought our team did well.

On the second activity we had a problem with taking turns. It might have been the reason we didn't complete the activity. Two girls didn't go at all and one person went five times. We didn't overcome it right away but we had a discussion and decided that is what we had done wrong. So that is the one thing that gave us a problem.

I really had fun at Norval yesterday. The team building was okay but the most fun was the drum circles. I think Ms Gallagher gave us a treat yesterday. I liked the low ropes to. That is what I thought about Norval.

LA post #1 Does clothing shape who you are?

I personally don't think clothing shapes who I am. I believe this and to show that I believe, on civvies day I just pick whatever is on top of the my clothes pile. I don't take a long time to choose my clothes like some people in the world. In the world most famous singers or actresses wear the newest clothes and newest style. So that is why I don't think clothing shapes who you are.

Some people do think clothing shapes who you are though, they are probably the people who spend hours picking out what they are going to wear. Some people tell me that they take hours to figure out what they are going to wear, sometimes they even by a new outfit just for civvies day. I don't think that's necessary; it is a waste of the worlds natural resources. I think these people want to be just like all the famous people. I geuss that is why some people think clothing shapes who they are.
